Hello… What have we here? It’s been a while since we’ve heard any news regarding Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s Han Solo spin-off, but that has changed today. Donald Glover (FX’s “Atlanta”) has officially been cast as Lando Calrissian in the Han Solo spin-off pic. He joins Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo) in bringing the younger versions of the two most iconic Star Wars characters to life.
“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” said Lord and Miller. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.” The Han Solo spinoff film will depict “Lando in his formative years as a scoundrel on the rise in the galaxy’s underworld — years before the events involving Han, Leia, and Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back and his rise to Rebel hero in Return of the Jedi.”
Glover has been rumored for the young Lando role for months now, and now it’s finally official. I can’t wait to see what Childish Gambino has in store for the most charismatic scoundrel in the universe (that’s not named Han Solo).
What do you think of Glover as Lando? Sound off in the comments section below!
The Han Solo spin-off film blasts into theaters in 2018.
