Director Rick Famuyiwa departs ‘The Flash’

It seems that the film about the fastest man on Earth can’t even get past the starting line!

According to THR, Rick Famuyiwa, the director who made such coming-of-age films such as 1999’s The Wood and 2015’s Dope, has exited the film that has probably gotten the most buzz since its glimpses in BVS, as well as Suicide Squad. Sources state that the split with the studio was over “creative differences.” This is not the first time we have heard that Warner Bros and DC have had issues with personnel on their films, especially this one. We all remember earlier this year when The Flash lost its first director, Seth Grahame-Smith, and now, with another “hiccup” for the film, it’s only expected that delays will ensue.

“When I was approached by Warner Bros and DC about the possibility of directing The Flash, I was excited about the opportunity to enter this amazing world of characters that I loved growing up, and still do to this day,” said Famuyiwa in a statement to THR.

“I was also excited to work with Ezra Miller, who is a phenomenal young actor. I pitched a version of the film in line with my voice, humor, and heart,” he continues. “While it’s disappointing that we couldn’t come together creatively on the project, I remain grateful for the opportunity. I will continue to look for opportunities to tell stories that speak to a fresh generational, topical, and multicultural point of view. I wish Warner Brothers, DC, Jon Berg, Geoff Johns, and Ezra Miller all the best as they continue their journey into the speed force.”
