On Friday, Amazon revealed via a press release that it had acquired the rights to Studio Ghibli’s first television series Ronja the Robber’s Daughter and will debut an English language version this fall on Amazon Video in the US, UK, Germany, Austria and Japan.

The 26-episode series was originally released back in 2014 and is directed by Goro Miyazaki, who is the son of Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki and previously directed Tales from Earthsea and From Up On Poppy Hill. The series is an adaptation of the wildly popular children’s fantasy book of the same from Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, who is also known for Pippi Longstocking.

Amazon also revealed that Gillian Anderson will be joining the voice cast for the English adaptation of the series. She will be voicing the role of the series narrator in Ronja the Robber’s Daughter, who also previously worked on 1997’s Princess Mononoke.

Ronja the Robber’s Daughter is also a huge departure from the traditional art style of Studio Ghibli. It instead uses 3D CG animation but still retains that Studio Ghibli look and feel to it, which also showcased in 2014’s Ni No Kuni for the PlayStation 3.

Here is a description of the series:

Ronja the Robber’s Daughter is an epic 26-part animated story of a strong, adventurous young girl who grows up exploring a beautiful and dangerous forest filled with mythical creatures. The daughter of a professional robber, Ronja realizes the complicated nature of her father’s profession when she befriends Birk, the child of a rival tribe. Ronja struggles to balance the relationship with her family and the bond with her self-proclaimed brother Birk as she comes to understand the intricate issues of family and friendship and how differences can be overcome with the help of love and understanding.
