Ever since its release in 2008, Chrome has become one of the best and most used browser. It has surpassed Internet Explorer and FireFox in terms of popularity. It may be due to its ease of use and customization. Using Extensions will allow you to have Chrome done your way. Thanks to talented developers out there, you can change the background picture, configure your Chrome to be more productive, study a new language, save you money, and help in your writing. And, most of these extensions do not require too much involvement other than a few clicks here or there.
Below are my choices to help you streamline your work and education on the Chrome browser.
Grammarly is for users who have trouble with writing. This can help. Be it simple grammar mistakes or complicated spelling, Grammarly can help you with either. Those simple typos in that email you sent to your mom? It can be fixed by Grammarly. It is not just for your email. It can also be used on social media. So no more embarrassing tweets unless you have been drinking. (Grammarly can not help you in those circumstances.) I know this has helped me on more than one occasion.
Everyone has those days of just being lazy at work and doing nothing but browsing YouTube or other non-work related sites. As you are browsing those sites, you see your boss or colleague approach you, so you have to close down all your sites, making you look suspicious. In a single click, it hides all the tab and saves all those open tabs in a bookmark folder; it can also display those tabs again after clicking on the same button. This is very helpful for those lazy or boring days at work or school.
Those annoying pop-up ads can be a thing of the past with AdBlock Plus. I have been using this for over a year now and it has helped me get through sites without being annoyed. It is not a 100 percent block; I would say it is 90 to 95 percent. Every now and then, something will slip by, but it is constantly being updated so within a day or two it will be blocked. It also gives you a choice to whitelist a site that you know do not have pop-up ads… or you want to support its ad placement.
We all have those days where you can not be procrastinating because you have lots of things to finish for school, work or both. This extension will help you in that area. It will block access to Facebook, Twitter, or other sites that you list. It will block it for a period of time, say from 9 AM to 5 PM. It’s very useful for those who has a laissez-faire attitude to things.
With school back in session for most people, that also means lots of reports will be done. With those reports you better have your citations properly formatted in the correct way. With this awesome little extension, it will do it for you. It does the citations in all formats APA, Chicago, MLA, and Harvard styles.
