This seems to be the year of Margot Robbie. She starred in Whiskey Tango Foxtrot earlier in 2016 as well as The Legend of Tarzan and Suicide Squad this summer. Although none of those movies were very well-received by critics, Robbie herself seems to have come away unscathed with numerous movies in the pipeline including a solo Harley Quinn film. Furthermore, NBC announced on Thursday that Robbie will host Saturday Night Live‘s 42nd season premiere.
Robbie got her big break in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street and her career has taken off since then. Her upcoming projects include starring in the aforementioned Harley Quinn film as well as lending her voice to the Dreamworks animated film Larrikins and playing Daphne Milne, wife of Winnie the Pooh creator A.A. Milne.
When Robbie hosts SNL, she’ll be joined by musical guest The Weeknd. The two-time Grammy Award winner and Oscar nominee first appeared on the variety show back in March. His upcoming appearance comes less than two months before the release of his upcoming album “Starboy” which is scheduled to come out on November 25.
Robbie will also be joined by new cast members Mikey Day, Alex Moffat and Melissa Villasenor, who will try to fill the void left after the shocking departures of Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah and the slightly less shocking departure of Jon Rudnitsky.
SNL‘s 42nd season premiere will air on Saturday, October 1 at 11:30 p.m. as usual.
