Jon Favreau has been a very successful director, having recently directed The Jungle Book. He is more well known for directing Marvel’s Iron Man and Iron Man 2. Fans have been wanting him to make his return as the beloved Happy Hogan and it looks like he will be part of Spider-Man: Homecoming and seems to be really happy with his part and the film.
He recently told Yahoo! films:
“It’s fun to come back as an actor. Especially when the filmmakers are taking care of you, and taking care of the characters and the story. If you’re in good hands, it’s great to come in and play in somebody else’s world. That’s how I started, as an actor. I really enjoy being on other people’s sets, especially if I have cool things to do. It’s all the fun and much less of the responsibility.”
It seems to coincide with what he also told IGN about the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“I just felt as a filmmaker who had been part of establishing this universe, I thought that it was in really good hands with these guys and I was pleased, and as an audience member I was just smiling, and it’s nice to smile your way through a film. The audience is in for a treat, and I didn’t even see it finished so I’m sure it’s gotten even better.”
“I think Spider-Man made me smile every second the character was on the screen, I was so pleased with the tone of the film in general, but those sequences specifically, and I just loved the way they introduced the character. I love the version of Tony Stark I saw, especially in those scenes. As somebody who was part of the beginning of the screen persona of Tony Stark, I thought that this was really impressive and a wonderful expansion of that character.”
