Most banks entice new members with points driven programs, cash back percentages and airline miles in an attempt to earn your loyalty. In Japan, banks appeal to the otaku (one with obsessive interests in anime or manga). According to Rocketnews24, one of Japan’s largest banks, Sumitomo Mitsui, is releasing an exclusive MasterCard of world famous anime vocaloid character Hatsune Miku. Fans that become cardholders will have access to exclusive Hatsune Miku artwork and gifts. This card is a new edition to the Hatsune Miku Visa card released last year and comes with many new perks.
The card will feature an original illustration by creator Ogi Pote and exclusive items will be given to the first 3,000 people to sign up such as a clear file of the original Visa Card Design.
The next 2,000 people to enroll in the e-money iD option will receive an original iD sticker.
The first cardmembers to accumulate points can redeem them for the following exclusive items:
Original Card Case (Limited 100) <600 points>
Full Graphic T-shirt (limited to 100) <1000 points>
Original design Carry Case (Limited 50) <5000 point>
Lastly, 50 people who spend 70,000 yen (that’s almost $700 USD) on the card by the end of the year will be entered into a lottery for a “Nendoroid Jumbo Hatsune Miku (metallic Ver.) figurine”.
This seems like a really fun way for fans to get their hands on exclusive Hatsune Miku items. According to the official press release fans can apply for the card at the Hatsune Miku “Magical Future 2016” event in the “Hatsune Mikukado” booth from September 9th to 11th on Sunday.
