It’s hard to believe that it’s already been 10 years since Dead Rising came out. And with Dead Rising 4 just around the corner, Capcom has decided to celebrate with HD Re-releases of the original Dead Rising, along with Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. This is a great chance to play an instant classic and a different twist on the zombie genre, one that still hasn’t been matched to this day.
For those unfamiliar with Dead Rising, it’s a sandbox-style game that throws you in an open world filled with zombies. Think GTA 5 with zombies.
In the first Dead Rising, you play as Frank West hot on a story and gets thrown right in the middle of a zombie outbreak in a shopping mall. While trying to survive the endless wave of zombies, you also try to uncover the the origin of the outbreak. The game itself has a 72 hour (accelerated) time frame to complete as much as you can and uncover the truth.
Dead Rising 2 takes place 5 years after the first and you play as Chuck Greene as he attempts to find a cure for his daughter.
Dead Rising 2: Off the Record is a “what if” take, having you play as Frank West from the first game.
Dead Rising, Dead Rising 2, and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record are available for PS4 and Xbox One via physical and digital download in singular games or as the bundle Dead Rising Triple Pack today.
