Back when I was a kid, we didn’t have Xbox and PlayStation, instead we used to infect each other with chicken pox for fun. But as the years went by, and the chicken pox became deadly shingles, no one wanted to play pass the virus anymore……until hearing about Virus: An Infectious Card Game. Now we can all once again partake in the joy of infecting those we care about.
What is Virus: An Infectious Card Game?
Virus is a fun and addicting card game where you play as a virus and compete with your friends to infect a host cell. The game can get quite competitive as players work to build up the strength (Virulence) of their own virus in hopes of replicating their own virus and dominating the host cell and score major points. With each turn players will have to decide which card will build up the Virulence of their virus, all while trying to compete to earn more points than their opponents. The stronger your virus is, the more points you will collect and the closer you will come to completely infecting the host cell.
While the theme of the game is science related, you really don’t have to know anything about these viruses to play. This is a great way to broaden your knowledge on viruses and have a blast doing so. While Virus may not be that complicated to learn, you may find yourself developing strategies to get ahead of your opponents and get your virus to come out on top.
The Creators of Virus.
John Coveyou, the founder and director of Genius Games, is a huuuuge fan of science and had even taught chemistry for several years. It’s no wonder that several of his other science-based games have been successful. In fact, Virus reached its funding goal only 12 hours after being launched on Kickstarter. In addition to releasing a really interesting science-based game, Genius Games are also giving away a few sci-fi promo cards to those who back this Kickstarter campaign. So far the 2 limited edition cards that have been announced are the “Zombie Virus” card and the “Genetically Engineered Virus” card. But stay on the lookout, there’s more to come!
