KCON LA happened this past weekend and drew over 76,000 people over three days to their annual convention celebrating all things Korean culture aka All Things Hallyu.
This three-day event consisted of Korean food, gaming, technology, music, dancing, television/movies, beauty, panels, education, and many more. K-Pop fans gathered to celebrate their favorite idols including artists Astro, Block B, BTS, Dean, Eric Nam, F(Amber), Gfriend, Girl’s Generation – TTS, I.O.I, Monsta X, Shinee, Davichi and Twice. Fans were never bored with the constant activities presented during the convention as well as in the panels. There was just so much to do and very little time to do it.
Here were some of the events available for fans who attended:
- Concert stage – performers from all over the world came on stage to showcase their love for K-Pop through dance, singing, and music.
- Beauty Block – For all your K-beauty needs with popular brands like Aritaum, The Face Shop, NYX, Meme Box, and many more providing samples, free makeup sessions, and talks.
- Dance Lessons – A section for fans to learn K-Pop choreo from known choreographers from Korea and popular YouTube dancers
- VR Showcase – Technology is changing and for the better! Now, you can dance with your favorite K-Pop groups as one of them or take a photo with your favorite idol in their VR couch. The technology is endless.
- Creative Korea Roadshow 2016 – Trade companies and technology from Korea all here to showcase their products.
- Foodie section – A place to try all the amazing Korean foods and products including Bibigo and Tour de jour.
- Fan merchandise – Want some KPOP Music? Want your idol’s official fan shirt? This was the place to get it!
- Panels – There were so many different topics being discussed ranging from being a foreigner in Korea to the History of K-Pop to famous Korean dance choreographers talking about experiences.
- Halo Championship Series Pro League Finals
- Street Market – food vendors took over the street next to the Staples Center selling all types of food. This was open to everyone.
For fans who love the Korean pop culture and everything Korean, this was the place for you. It is also a great place for people planning to move to Korea for study abroad or teaching. There were many that flew in from Korea to talk about their experiences.
