Joining the cast of a Star Wars film usually means your stock will rise and your name will become instantly recognizable. This happened with Daisy Ridley and her other lesser known co-stars. But now she has the actual title of Movie Breakout Star to make it official which isn’t surprising at all.
She received this award at the 2016 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday which was held in Los Angeles. She was recognized for her role as Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, beating out her co-star, John Boyega, who played Finn.
The 24-year-old actress was clearly ecstatic receiving her award saying, “Oh my God, this is so scary. There’s so many people. It feels incredible to be in this category with amazing people, especially my boy John. And after all the incredible people we just saw on stage, it feels especially important to be part of a film that represents diversity in such a positive way. Thank you for creating this character and everyone for letting me be Rey.”
Of course, we’ll be seeing more of Ridley when she returns for Star Wars: Episode VIII on December 15, 2017.
