At Escape 2019, thousands of people spooked up the NOS Events Center in San Bernardino on October 26-27 to party like there’s no tomorrow. Each year, Insomniac brought out some mind-blowing stage designs, a new area called Crazy Town, and of course, carnival rides.
But that’s just the tip of the iceberg, this year’s lineup featured some heavy-hitters like deadmau5, Don Diablo, RL Grime, and others. It also gave us some sweet B2B sets like Gorgon City and Nora En Pure or Chris Liebing and Charlotte de Witte.
But there were plenty of memorable moments from Escape 2019, so here are some highlights.
The Grimm
Insomniac Events is known for their elaborate and intricate stages. No matter what the event their stages are the talk of the EDM world. This year’s Escape mainstage was being touted as the largest megastructure Insomniac has ever built. Upon first glance, it doesn’t seem like much. That is until you see the actual skeleton move its head and arms. Sure, it can only go up and down but seeing it move in the first place is such an awesome thing to see. It truly is one of their most innovative stages yet.
Chris Lake bringing down the house at Psycho Circus
I personally didn’t go and see Chris Lake but those that did absolutely loved what he brought. Actually, his set on Saturday was one of the many IG stories I saw from Saturday night. Also, a redditor called his set one of the best sets they’ve ever been to. It just goes to show you how memorable his set really was.
deadmau5 dancing with Dillon Francis to ABBA’s Dancing Queen
deadmau5 is one of the biggest characters in the EDM world. He’s a guy that just like to have a lot of fun. That’s why during Dillon Francis’ set, the both of them got on top of stage and started dancing to ABBA’s classic song, Dancing Queen. Seeing both of them dance combined with the song itself, needless to say, everyone at Grimm went wild.
deadmau5 putting on a ghost costume during Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff
As I said, deadmau5 is a character. During his set not only did he chug a beer (that he requested) but he also reappeared on stage in a ghost costume. Yes, he has his famous mau5 head but deadmau5 just couldn’t resist dressing as a ghost during his most famous song, Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff.
Soon after Escape 2019, Insomniac announced the dates for Escape 2020. The best news? Escape’s 10th Anniversary will fall on Halloween next year.
