It might not be the Cornetto franchise, but longtime collaborators and friends Simon Pegg (Mission: Impossible – Fallout) and Nick Frost (Fighting with My Family) are reuniting for the horror-comedy series Truth Seekers, which has been acquired by Amazon Prime Video as an original series, according to Variety.

“Each episode is going to be an adventure, a potential haunting or something,” Pegg said in a previous statement. “It’ll start as a very parochial idea, a very small business venture for these people, but it will expand as the series goes on to be something far more global. It’s a language everyone understands, the mystery of the unknown. ‘Shaun of the Dead’ was a very parochial story set in North London and somehow it managed to get this global reach because everyone understands the language of zombie movies.”

While details surrounding Pegg’s character Dave are currently unknown, Frost will portray Gus, one of two members of a ghost-hunting duo that uncover and film paranormal sighting across the U.K. who stakes out haunted churches, abandoned hospitals and similar locations using homemade ghost-detecting gadgets. As the two uncover a conspiracy that could threaten the human race, their experiences grow more frequent and terrifying.

Simon, Miles [Ketley] and I, and everyone at Stolen Picture, are incredibly happy to be making ‘Truth Seekers’ with our new partners, Amazon Prime Video,” Frost said in a statement. “It’s been nothing but a joyride in seeing this mad tale of paranormal conspiracy unfold in all its understated brilliance. Amazon’s commitment and support of the show, and of original programming generally, showed us that we couldn’t be collaborating with a bigger or better team.”

Stolen Picture has already wrapped its first feature film, Slaughterhouse Rulez, a horror-comedy that takes place at a British boarding school and featuring Michael Sheen and Asa Butterfield in addition to Pegg and Frost. They’re also planning another feature with Pegg and Frost as a fading double act who decide to reunite with each other after years of separation.

Nick and I are delighted that ‘Truth Seekers’ has found a home with Amazon Prime Video,” Pegg said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to working closely with them and creating something very special. These are truly exciting times for television, and I can’t think of a better partner than Amazon to accompany us on a return to the smaller screen.”

The pair have been working together onscreen for nearly 20 years, beginning with the cult hit TV series Spaced (co-written by Pegg, directed by Edgar Wright), which ran for two seasons on Channel 4. Pegg, Frost, and Wright expanded their partnership on the big screen with the Cornetto Trilogy, consisting of 2004’s Shaun of the Dead, 2007’s Hot Fuzz and 2013’s The World’s End, as well as the non-Wright American feature Paul, which was co-written by Pegg and Frost.
