Godzilla: King of the Monsters is the highly anticipated sequel to Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla, and we’ll get to see the big kaiju go up against creatures like King Ghidorah. Other Titans will be making appearances including Mothra and Rodan, but whose side are they on? Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have released a new poster, and it features Godzilla shooting his atomic breath towards the heavens.

The poster shows the epic size of Godzilla as he stands above the ocean. Helicopters and ships are surrounding him and keeping an eye on him, but we all know they are all going to be his pet. We’re not sure why he’s shooting above. Perhaps Ghidorah is flying up so high that our giant hero can’t reach him.

During CinemaCon, Warner Bros. featured a scene showing off the rise of Ghidorah, and it was glorious. This scene alone was enough to make fans rejoice, especially with the cinematic shots and the Titan using his gravity beams that look like electricity. You can check out our footage description here.

Synopsis: The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

The film is directed and written by Michael Dougherty (Krampus) with Zach Shields as the co-screenwriter. It stars Kyle Chandler (Super 8), Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring), Millie Bobby Brown (Netflix’s Stranger Things), Bradley Whiteford (Get Out), Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water), Charles Dance (HBO’s Game of Thrones), Thomas Middleditch (HBO’s Silicon Valley), Aisha Hinds (Star Trek Into Darkness), O’Shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton), David Strathairn (Godzilla), Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai, Batman Begins), and Ziyi Zhang (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).

Godzilla: King of the Monsters stomps into theaters on May 31, 2019.
