DC Universe, the streaming app for DC fans, has two original series: Titans and Doom Patrol. With Titans, the creative team decided to make the show very gritty and edgy. The Teen Titans characters are above the PG-13 rules, as we can see that with Dick Grayson cutting and stabbing villains and saying some very bad things about Batman. In the first season, we never get to see Bruce Wayne, but that’s about to change for the show’s second season. It’s revealed that Iain Glen will portray Bruce Wayne.
Fans of Game of Thrones know Iain Glen as Ser Jorah Mormont, who wants nothing more than to protect Daenerys Targaryen. Soon, viewers will get to see him as the protector of Gotham City.
In the first season of Titans, Dick Grayson has a very troubled past with Bruce Wayne. It’s so bad that he will badmouth the Caped Crusader every chance and gets, and he left Gotham to get away from his mentor to become a police detective in Detroit, Michigan. However, Bruce Wayne has a different view of his relationship with Dick. Here’s a tease of what we can expect, according to the producers:
“After decades of fighting crime as Batman, billionaire Bruce Wayne is just as driven to protect Gotham from evil as he was in his prime. Needing to reconcile his relationship with Dick Grayson, the duo hope to forge a new dynamic as Bruce tries to help his former sidekick and the Titans achieve success.”
Many actors have portrayed the Dark Knight including Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, and David Mazouz. With Titans, we’ll get an older Bruce Wayne, and possibly an even darker take similar to Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns.
With Titans season 2 coming out later on for DC Universe, you can see get your Glen fix soon when he returns as Ser Jorah with the premiere of Game of Thrones’ final season on HBO. Will he be jealous of Jon Snow? Will he accept his fate and continue to help the alliance of Jon and Daenerys against the White Walkers? We’ll find out soon enough.
