Last year at D23, Square Enix announced that Big Hero 6 will be one of the new worlds coming to Kingdom Hearts 3. Instead of making a huge reveal at this year’s E3, the video game company revealed a new trailer at the conclusion of the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra – World Tour. Shortly after the trailer was released online, which showed off new gameplay and revealed that more information would be announced at D23 Expo.
“Don’t assume your dreams are just fantasy. If you can imagine a world, believe in it…and dive in.”
Well, Square Enix certainly did not disappoint! Kingdom Hearts 3 director Tetsuya Nomura appeared on stage during the Level Up! The Walt Disney Company’s Video Game Showcase. There he revealed that Pixar’s Toy Story World will be coming to the third main game in the series. The trailer begins as Sora, Goofy and Donald arrive in a new world where they have a completely new look. They run into an army of heartless before they meet Woody, Buzz and the rest of the toys.
It was announced that, like Big Hero 6, this is a brand new story developed exclusively for Kingdom Hearts 3. The trailer also reveals Sora’s Command Styles/Limits mode Drill Punch which allows him to drill through enemies, dig underground and slam the ground to do massive damage. Buzz and Woody will also join the fight. But the best part of the trailer has to be seeing Sora jump into various giant mechs which then changes the game into a first-person mode.
At the end of the trailer, it reveals that Kingdom Hearts 3 is planned for a 2018 release.
