‘Batman and Harley Quinn’ is like a continuation of the Batman animated series

Batman and Harley Quinn
Batman and Harley Quinn is the next DC Universe Animated Original Movie to come out. Warner Home Video has released a new trailer for the film featuring Batman, Nightwing, and fan-favorite Harley Quinn. Oh boy, Batman must be really desperate if he’s asking Harley for help.

Fans of “The New Batman Adventures” will definitely be looking forward to this animated film since it’s using Bruce Timm’s style. Even though they both share the same style, they’re not in the same universe. This one is catered to a more mature crowd.

Kevin Conroy will be reprising his role as the voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne. Loren Lester returns as the voice of Nightwing/Dick Grayson. Tara Strong, who currently is the main voice actress for Harley Quinn (Injustice 2, Batman: Arkham Knight), will be absent. Melissa Rauch will be taking over the role. Fans have mixed feelings on Rauch’s voice as Harley in the trailer. Not to mention, some are saying that she should have stuck with her character’s voice from “Big Bang Theory.” (I would have to agree.)

Batman, Nightwing and Harley Quinn will try to stop Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue, aka The Floronic Man, from causing a global disaster.

As for the mature content, Lester said (via Collider), “[W]e’re not restricted by the networks for this film, so we can take the story and characters in more mature areas, and explore more about them as three-dimensional human beings with human feelings and human desires that we often couldn’t explore in the series.”

The Batman animated series style being used in the film will definitely take some getting used to, especially since the film will be more mature.

Sam Liu (Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, Batman: The Killing Joke) is the director with Bruce Timm writing the story. Batman and Harley Quinn will be out on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD in the summer of 2017.
