Disney theme park prices go up

Visiting the happiest place on Earth just became a little more expensive. Yes, Disney theme park prices went up in California and Florida this week, although not by a huge amount.

According to the official Disneyland ticket website, regular adult prices will be $97 on value days, $110 on regular days and $124 during peak time periods. As for how the changes differentiate from before, Fox News states the price increase to be up by $2 for value days, and $5 for regular and peak time periods.

The author also explains that “Southern California Select ($339) and Southern California ($469) passes, which both have black out dates, are increasing by $10.”

Additionally, the Disney Deluxe Passport for Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will now cost $619, which is $20 more expensive than before. Parking is up from $18 to $20 as well.

One author on The Huffington Post points out that in 2000, “a Disneyland ticket cost just $41, or $57.14 in 2016 dollars.”

How about Florida?

Value days will cost $99 at Walt Disney World, while the regular price is now $107 and peak time periods cost $119. Like with Disneyland, those are increases of $2 for the value days, and $5 for the other two categories.

From the same Fox News article, “Annual passes for the Florida parks will also increase, jumping $10 to $559 for Gold passes (with blackout dates) and $30 to $679 for Platinum passes (with no blackout dates).”

Of course, preferred parking goes up to $40 (an increase of $5).

In an official statement, a Disney spokeswoman explained the changes to the Associated Press:

“Our pricing provides guests a range of options that allow us to better manage demand to maximize the guest experience and is reflective of the distinctly Disney offerings at all of our parks.”

As a nice side effect for visitors, the price increases could decrease crowd size and help create a more enjoyable experience overall. Plus, it is difficult to put a price on the timeless memories one can experience at those parks.

Do not forget Star Wars Land is coming in 2019 as well.

Many happy days are ahead for Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
