Andrew Lincoln gives promising comments about Walking Dead finale

The Walking Dead returned last night kicking off the second half of season 7, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look ahead to the season finale. We all know about last year’s finale that ended with a controversial cliffhanger that sparked outrage among fans. But what’s in store this year? Most likely, the conflict between our protagonists and Negan and the Saviors will come to a head, hopefully giving fans a more positive outcome than that seen at the end of last season. Whatever happens, it does sound like it’ll be different than past finales.

ComicBook.com spoke with Rick Grimes actor Andrew Lincoln to get his take on the matter.

“Rick’s swagger is back and he’s reclaimed his mojo,” Lincoln said. “He’s getting his strut back. That was exciting, but also, as you said before, there’s a palpable sense that the world is a lot bigger and he has to change as a man and as a leader as a result.”

It looks like Rick is ready for a big change, but what about the story as a whole? Lincoln opened up about that as well.

“It’s very much driving towards a very exciting end point in this season, and all I will say is that normally we’re shooting and it is a very painful, too, for a lot of reasons. Leaving great friends and being apart from one another a lot. A lot of the core cast was separated, but what I will say is that there is more energy and more excitement and enthusiasm and build and build and action than we’ve ever had at the end of this season. I’ve never seen the crew and cast be more ready to continue telling the story.”

If the actors’ reactions are any indication, we’re in for a great finale. Apparently, Lincoln loves a specific moment in the episode so much that he put down his script just to dance. As for Norman Reedus, the show’s Daryl Dixon, he loved watching the scene being shot so much that he accidentally ran into the frame before director Greg Nicotero could yell ‘cut’.

Let’s just hope the show does a 180 from last year and actually gives us some closure. The Walking Dead airs on Sundays on AMC.
